For the first time in 55 Champions League matches, the Nigeria international ended his goal drought after scoring in the 55th minute.

John Obi Mikel made his debut in Europe’s flagship club competition against Werder Bremen on September 12, 2006, when he was introduced in injury time as replacement for Michael Ballack.

The 27 - year - old has played 12 matches in all competitions this season including 8 in the Premier League.

Following the win over the Portuguese club, Chelsea finished top of Group G, with 14 points from 6 matches.
