Eulogies from Oyo Police As CP Shodipo Bags SWAN Award

As the Oyo State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) commences its annual week celebration which is commemorating the 50th year anniversary of the body, some eminent Nigerians that have contributed to the growth of sport in the country have been singled out for honour.
The Chairman Technical Committee for Nigerian Police Games who doubles as the Oyo State Commissioner of Police CP Kola Shodipo who is among the recipients of the Sports Writers honour and would receive the award along with many others on Thursday 18th during a Gala Night scheduled for D’Rovans Hotel ring-road Ibadan.
Officers and men of Oyo State Police Command who spoke to newsmen described their boss as a worthy recipient of the SWAN’s ‘Gold Merit Award’ which happens to be the highest honour from the stable of the sports journalists.
The Area Commander of Agodi, ACP Sunday Odukoya in his reaction to newsmen in Ibadan said the contributions of CP Shodipo to the development of Sports within Nigeria Police cannot be quantified and it was the efforts that produced the likes of winner of Nigeria’s first Olympic individual Gold medal, Chioma Ajunwa, late Sunday Bada, World Heavyweight boxing champion, Samuel Peter among others.
ACP Umar Bature of Iyaganku Area command however described CP Shodipo as a dogged fighter and intelligent police officer that had contributed immensely to the sports within the force, training and intelligence gathering that promotes community
policing.
“Many of us are products of a comprehensive sports scheme practiced by the Police; The Police Games that CP Shodipo is its technical head was where many notable sportsmen and women in Nigeria were discovered and further nurtured to excel in their different chosen sports fields” said the officer-in-charge of Skynet, ASP Usman Dimka.
