Anthony Ujah Proud Of Performance Against Germany International Mats Hummels
Published: March 17, 2015
Anthony Ujah has stated that he was not intimidated by the presence of Mats Hummels last weekend when Cologne played a goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Hailed as the new version of Franz Beckenbauer, the Germany international is one of the most sought- after defenders ahead of the summer transfer market, with reports strongly linking him with a move to Manchester United.
Ujah, 24, has said that Mats Hummels had to work his socks off to stop him from scoring at Signal-Iduna-Park on Saturday, but acknowledged that the Borussia Dortmund skipper is a top quality center - half.
“He is one of the best defenders in the world, but playing with two strikers we were able to give him problems.
“I had a few things to learn from the experience playing against him,” Anthony Ujah said.
The Nigeria international was pleased to secure a point away from home, adding that Cologne probably need at least five more points from the remaining fixtures to beat the drop.
“We are satisfied with the point, it was a very difficult match and we had to defend a lot.
“We had no target of points but decided to play a collective football and fight for each other, we had our chances but still satisfied with the point.
“We would need at least 34 to 36 points to be certain of remaining in the Bundesliga next season,” he concluded.
Anthony Ujah is the 11th top scorer in the Bundesliga, with 9 goals to his name after 25 rounds.
