Done Deal : New Nwankwo Kanu, Sadiq Umar Signs Five - Year Contract With AS Roma

AS Roma have snapped up highly - rated striker Sadiq Umar on a five - year deal from Spezia after a successful medical.
Dubbed the New Nwankwo Kanu, the 18 - year - old committed his long - term future to the Stadio Olimpico oufit on Wednesday morning, snubbing the overtures of Genoa, Atalanta and Crotone.
“Sadiq signed a five - year deal with Roma, he will start training with his new club on July 22, ” said Mohammed Lawal, Umar’s representative, to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“After discussing with the technical team of Roma, we feel Roma is the best place for him to develop his game and career in general at this point.
“He was in Nigeria when the two clubs agreed and will return on Saturday until after the Ramadan and Sallah.”
A product of Future of Africa Academy, Kaduna, Sadiq Umar scored 26 goals in 24 games for the youth team of Spezia last season.
