Thanh Hoa Terminated Timothy Anjembe Contract After He Refused To Pay Bribe To Officials Of Vietnamese Club
Published: July 12, 2015
Timothy Anjembe has reported Thanh Hoa to Fifa’s Dispute Resolution Chamber for breach of contract after the Vietnamese club unilaterally terminated the agreement binding the parties until September 30, 2015 without just cause.
Thanh Hoa chiefs had claimed that the former top scorer in the Nigerian championship had his contract canceled without pay due to poor performance just two games into the season.
It is being suggested that the principal reason Thanh Hoa cut ties with Anjembe is that he refused to pay gratification to the top officials of the club, as it is the unwritten rule, after he negotiated directly with the President prior to signing his contract.
“They were owing me two months salaries before they terminated my contract and they didn’t pay me after all, plus balance of my contract fee,” said Timothy Anjembe to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“They went and wrote a defamatory story against me sighting indiscipline etc, which they can’t prove.
“If there was any what punishment did they carry on? Because the contract states clearly in case of bad conduct....”
The attacked continued : “I didn’t break any rule. We played the first game and won 2-1 home, then we went away and lost 2-0 so when we returned back they terminated my contract next day.
“It was a kind of shock to me, but I guess they may have already planned all that. All the same my case is with Fifa and I am waiting for the outcome.”
Timothy Anjembe further revealed that Thanh Hoa are notorious for not respecting the contracts of players, especially foreigners.
“I don’t know if it’s a case of vendetta, but even at that I can’t remember having any issues with them.
“But this particular club has a history of terminating foreigners’ contracts with no just cause, they did same with one Brazilian Antonio Carlos, and recently with Patrick DaSilva, the player they signed when they terminated my contract.
“They do all that to take your money and share within them, the director and the coaches and if you don’t take your case to VFF or FIFA that’s how it ends,” the 27 - year - old concluded.
The former Lobi Stars and Enyimba star scored 18 goals in 20 matches in the 2014 season while on the books of Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
