Bright Ejike Nets Tenth Goal Of The Season As Heartland Beat Dolphins
Published: July 13, 2015
Bright Ejike scored his 10th league goal of the season as Heartland defeated Dolphins 3-1 at the Rojenny International Stadium on Sunday.
The Premier League stragglers thought they had snatched at least a point after Godbless Asamoah cancelled out Collins Nwaneri’s early opener.
But Ejike scored a timely goal, before Emeka Ogbugh struck the third on stoppage time. The Naze Millionaires moved up to 4th in the Premier League table, while Dolphins are 19th on the 20-team ladder.
It started well for the hosts thanks to a tap-in from Nwaneri four minutes into the game. The dangerous Ejike almost doubled the lead for the hosts but he was denied by a point-blank save from Godwin Anyalogu.
The visitors were level as Asamoah fired past Emmanuel Iwu in the 53rd minute. Ejike dispatched a cool finish beyond the reach of Anyalogu to restore Heartland’s lead.
There was little to choose between the sides as Oghugh was at the right place to net Heartland’s third goal.
