Siasia Wields Big Stick On Effiong As Sokari Beats Deadline
Published: July 25, 2015
Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia wielded the big stick on Abia Warriors defender Ndifreke Effiong for failing to report to camp before Friday’s deadline, stating he should forget about the invitation.
The former Super Eagles striker has stressed that he doesn’t have too much time on his hands to prepare the squad before they jet off to Pointe Noire for the return leg of the African U23 Championship qualifier against Congo next weekend.
But Esperance new boy Kingsley Sokari and Warri Wolves FC defender Semiu Liadi are in the good books of Siasia and the Nigeria Football Federation, with arriving in Port Harcourt on Friday and taking part in the evening session held at Liberation Stadium.
In the same vein, Umar Aminu and Shehu Abdullahi are expected to be in camp on Monday, with the Federation confirming that letters of invitation have been sent to their European clubs.
Having said that, the game falls outside Fifa’s window for international matches, and Osmanlıspor plus CF União Madeira are not obliged to release the players.
