Chuba Akpom Features As Arsenal Win Emirates Cup
Published: July 26, 2015
England youth international Chuba Akpom was a second - half substitute
for Arsenal as they won the Emirates Cup for the first time in 2010
following their 1 - 0 win over Wolfsburg at N7 7AJ.
With manager Arsene Wenger dropping all the players except Ozil that started against Lyon, Alex Iwobi, who earned reviews for his outstanding performance against the Ligue 1 team, found himself on the bench.
After a goalless first half, Three Lions star Theo Walcott decided the outcome of the game with a goal five minutes after the restart.
On 72 minutes, Akpom would have added more gloss to the scoreline but goalkeeper Benaglio held onto his half-volley.
Next for Arsenal is the Community Shield tie against EPL champions Chelsea at Wembley next Sunday.
