Exclusive : Junior Ajayi Misses Out On $1 Million Esperance Deal After Coach Vetoes Move

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that  Junior Ajayi and his adviser Gafar Olawale Liameed have returned to their homeland empty handed without the attacker completing his move to Tunisia powerhouse Esperance.

The truth and nothing but the truth is that the Nigeria Under 23 international had signed a three - year contract with The Blood and Gold, but the new coach of Esperance Jose Anigo vetoed the transfer, insisting that that he must undergo trials.

And despite scoring in a training game the following day, Anigo still failed to give his nod to the deal , but it can be revealed that the former Marseille defender blocked the transfer because he has the intention of signing another player from Mali.

Now, the intermediaries that brokered the deal that would have seen Junior Ajayi join Esperance have questioned the decision of the club.

Esperance’s first choice was Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi but they discarded that plan due to uncertainties surrounding his contract situation with Kalmar and his ownership rights, and he would not have undergone trials.

Junior Ajayi is far ahead of Taiwo Awoniyi in Samson Siasia’s pecking order of strikers , and the agents were surprised that the Esperance coach questioned the integrity of the Dream Team VI coach by insisting that the 3SC striker must be tested unlike in the case of the Imperial Academy product.

Assuming the transfer materialized, Junior Ajayi would have earned $650,000 in total over the length of his contract while 36 Lion, Lagos, the grassroots team that owns his economic rights, would have been paid $350,000 transfer fee.
