Vincent Enyeama Withdraws From Super Eagles Squad
Published: September 02, 2015
Lille numero uno Vincent Enyeama will not be reporting to the Super Eagles camp for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania and the international friendly with Niger in Port Harcourt.
It is understood that the Nigeria skipper withdrew from the squad, citing personal reasons but all may not be well between the netminder and the Nigeria Federation after he was queried for his comments days leading up to the Eagles clash with Chad.
The Nigeria Football Federation has moved quickly to invite Enyimba shot - stopper Femi Thomas as Enyeama’s replacement.
Vincent Enyeama racked up a century of caps for the Super Eagles in their 1 - 0 loss to Uganda before winning his 101st cap in the Afcon tie against Chad in June.
Apart from Enyeama and Joel Obi, all the players - both foreign and home based - have started training with the team ahead of their departure to Dar es Salaam on Thursday, September 3.
