Fanendo Adi One Goal Shy Of Equaling Diego Valeri Portland Timbers Record
Published: October 15, 2015
Fanendo Adi scored his 22nd career goal in the MLS on Thursday morning as Portland Timbers defeated Real Salt Lake 1 - 0.
The ex Dynamo Kiev and FC Copenhagen man was delighted to pick up three points but admitted that the team threw away several scoring opportunities.
“From the first we did very well. Everyone was playing in shape. We were just trying to come out with the three points today,” Fanendo Adi told timbers.com.
“We had some chances but our finishing was kind of poor but lucky for us we got a PK.
“That’s the thing about the game of soccer is that the three points is all that matters.”
Fanendo Adi’s 54th minute goal at the Rio Tinto Stadium means he is one goal shy of equaling the record of former Argentina international Diego Valeri , who has scored 23 goals since joining Timbers in 2013 from Lanus.
