Emmanuel Amuneke Reveals Half Time Pep Talk Inspired Golden Eaglets
Published: October 18, 2015
Nigeria Under 17s coach Emmanuel Amuneke was pleased to start the defense of their title with a victory against a stubborn United States team, and revealed that his half - time pep talk inspired his team.
The Golden Eaglets were the dominant team and had 19 attempts at goal, compared to the Americans, who managed only 5.
“Considering it was the first match, I think it was a good game. At the beginning it was pretty even, everything very tactical, neither of us wanted to make a mistake,” Amuneke said in his post match comments.
“At half time I told my players to believe in themselves, and it worked, because we were more precise.
“Besides the three points, which are very important, I also liked that we kept our heads even when we could not get things going.”
Nigeria will next take on host nation Chile at the Estadio Sausalito, Viña del Mar on Tuesday night.
