Croatia Coach Full Of Pride After Beating Golden Eaglets

Croatia coach Dario Basic was full of national pride after his team upset one of the pre - tournament favourites, Nigeria, at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup and stressed that he told his boys to approach the game as a final before they stepped out onto the turf.
Just as Emmanuel Amuneke had admitted in his post match comments, the Europeans were the better side in all the parameters, with more shots on goal and better ball possession.
“I am very proud of my players who played a great match, ” Basic told fifa.com.
“We approached this game as a final, telling us it was absolutely necessary to win or go home. I believed in my team.
“It has shown that it can compete with the best teams in the world. ”
Croatia have a meeting with the second - placed team in Group D (Germany, Mexico, Australia, Argentina) in the next round on Thursday.
