Orji Okonkwo Full Of Confidence Ahead Showpiece Game Vs Mali
Published: November 07, 2015
Orji Okonkwo is not lacking confidence going into the showpiece game at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup after scoring one of the goals of the tournament in the semi - final against Mexico.
On top of that, it would be right to say that Mali are one of the favourite opponents of the Abuja Football College marksman, having scored twice against the Young Eagles at the 2014 WAFU B Tournament in Togo.
“Yes, we met Mali in Togo but that was a long time,” Orji Okonkwo said to reporters ahead of Sunday night’s final.
“The final on Sunday will be special and we pray that God bless us with victory.”
The Golden Eaglets were victorious the last time they faced an African side in the final; beating Ghana 2 - 1 at the Tokyo National Stadium in 1993, with Wilson Oruma and Peter Anosike netting for Nigeria.
