NFF Yet To Credit Accounts Of 1985 Eaglets; Tamper With Traveling Allowance Provided By Sports Ministry
Published: January 27, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been reliably informed that the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF, are yet to credit the bank accounts of members of the victorious Nigeria national U-16 team, the Baby Eagles of 1985.
Two separate members of the team told this website they were reliably informed by Sports Ministry officials that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of the funds which have already been channeled into the account of the NFF and wonders what is causing the delay.
The 1985 Golden Eaglets are very critical of some officials of the football house after they were almost shortchanged of their transportation fare which was provided by the Sports Ministry.
It was alleged that the transport fare of N60,000 each for members based in Nigeria and N250,000 for those based overseas was tampered with by NFF officials.
But players of the 1985 set unanimously rejected the moves to shortchange them and in less than an hour from the period they rejected the monies the officials made the full payment.
It was also revealed that only N20,000 was given to late Kingsley Aikhionbare’s mother but after the unanimous rejection the full payment was effected to her.
Some members of the 1985 set after observing the foul play in Abuja are forced to mistrust the Federation and are therefore appealing to the NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick, to expedite the payment of the monies given to them by Mr President.
Only recently, President Buhari rewarded the 1985 Golden Eaglets with gift of N2million each for winning the FIFA/KODAK Under-16 World Cup in China in 1985.
Other athletes who made Nigeria proud in international competitions including the 2015 Golden Eaglets were also rewarded.
