Published: January 29, 2016
Anglo-Nigerian defender Emmanuel Onariase has signed an 18-month contract with English Championship side Brentford from Premier League team West Ham, both clubs have announced.
The 19-year-old was one of the top prospects at the Hammers Academy and made the 18-man squad for the Premier League tie against Arsenal in March 2015, shortly before he penned a professional deal.
“After 7 productive years at West Ham United, I’ve decided to take a new pathway on my journey, ” Onariase stated.
“I’d like to thank all the coaches, players and staff at the academy who have helped me to improve and excel in my career thus far.
“Big thanks to Slaven Bilic and rest of the first team staff and players who made me feel welcome whenever I was in the first-team environment. ”
Onariase was offered a contract by Brentford after impressing the Development Squad staff during trials last week.
