New Super Eagles invitee Fanendo Adi was satisfied after netting the game-winner in Portland Timbers’ 2-1 victory against Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park.
With the scoreboard reading 1-1, Adi secured all three points for the homers, scoring in the 79th minute after a shot from Asprilla was deflected into his path.
“I saw the ball and maybe it was going to hit the crossbar, but you never know,” Adi told timbers.com.
“I was going to break the bar. I saw the ball and had to manage a way to put it in.
“It was amazing for me to get a goal in our first game of the season, and for us to win is just absolutely amazing. As the coach said, we’re going to enjoy this one tonight.”
Since moving to Portland Timbers during the 2014 season, Fanendo Adi has scored 26 goals for the club.
