Portland Timbers Striker Fanendo Adi Sets New Record In Major League SoccerFanendo Adi will jet out for international duty with the Super Eagles with his confidence level high after notching a brace in Portland Timbers’ 2-2 draw with Sunday Stephen’s Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

His 80th and 84 minute strikes took his tally in Major League Soccer to 28 goals in the regular season, the sixth-most goals netted by a Timbers player since the formation of the club in 1975.

Fanendo Adi has now notched ten braces since joining the Providence Park outfit from FC Copenhagen in 2014, beating the record he earlier shared with McKinley Tennyson, who represented the club from 2002-2003.

The 25-year-old netted his first pair of goals in the MLS against Chivas USA on May 25, 2014 before he struck twice against Real Salt Lake ten days later at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

Adi has also registered his name on the score sheet twice in games against Seattle Sounders(2), Vancouver Whitecaps, LA Galaxy (2), New England Revolution, Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake in yesterday’s contest.
