Liverpool U21s Coach Wowed By Ibe Goal; Ejaria Lands In America
Published: May 21, 2016
Liverpool U21s manager Michael Beale has hailed England youth-teamer with Nigerian roots, Jordon Ibe, for his brilliant strike against West Brom on the final day of the season last weekend.
Ibe ran half of the length of the pitch before firing past the Baggies netminder Ben Foster in the 23rd minute to rescue a draw for the Reds.
Born in England, he joined Liverpool at the age of 15 from Wycombe Wanderers and rose through the academy system at the club before making his first team debut against Queens Park Rangers on May 19, 2013.
“Jordon Ibe is also an Academy boy and it was fantastic to see him score a goal of such quality at West Bromwich Albion,” Beale told liverpoolfc.com.
“I think we can really be proud of this year’s efforts but the hard work never stops and that has whetted our appetite for the future. ”
Meanwhile, Ovie Ejaria has traveled with the Liverpool U21s to the United States for two friendly games and could be in action against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder was part of the U19s squad that finished third in the recently concluded Spax Cup in Germany.
