Confirmed: Nottingham Forest appoint English coach with links to Fulham midfielder Iwobi

With a statement on the official website, two-time European champions Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of English tactician Sean Dyche as the club's new head coach.

Dyche's appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.

A former central defender, Dyche spent part of his youth career with Nottingham Forest before going on to represent several clubs in the English leagues.

The 54-year-old has signed a contract with the Reds that runs until the end of the 2026-2027 season, succeeding Ange Postecoglou in the dugout.

An experienced Premier League manager, Dyche will take charge of his first match as Forest boss on Thursday when the club face Porto in the Europa League league phase.

Dyche is no stranger to Nigerian players, having previously worked with Alex Iwobi during his time at Everton, and with Ali Koiki at Burnley.

During Dyche's tenure at Everton, Iwobi, now at Fulham, made 20 starts, scoring once and providing two assists under the Englishman's guidance.

Although Koiki did not make a senior appearance for Burnley, he was included in matchday squads for Premier League fixtures against Arsenal, West Ham United and Chelsea.

At Nottingham Forest, Dyche will again be working with Nigerian players, namely Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, both members of the first team squad.
