Exclusive : Ex-Nigeria Skipper Joseph Yobo Pays SuperSport N10 Million To Broadcast Testimonial
Published: May 24, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that South African television channel SuperSport has been paid N10 million naira by former Nigeria skipper Joseph Yobo and his camp to broadcast his testimonial on Friday, May 27th.
SuperSport Nigeria general manager Felix Awogu has stated with pride that the media giants are supporting and celebrating the retired Everton defender, perhaps as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
But that is far from the reality on ground as the TV station is set to make a huge profit for its live broadcast from the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
SuperSport Nigeria is expected to supply feeds to local Nigerian channel African Independent Television, who will then broadcast to the whole of Nigeria.
The CEO of Capital Oil, Ifeanyi Ubah and NICON Insurance are two of the major sponsors of the game between Yobo and Friends vs Super Eagles Stars, while Ikeja-based Airline, Dana Air, has offered to fly dignitaries from Abuja and Lagos to Port Harcourt (to and fro) as part of its contribution to the event.
The host state, Rivers State, is also bankrolling the testimonial and will take care of the flight expenses of the foreign players that will grace the ceremony.
