Ex-Tottenham Starlet William Troost-Ekong Joins Super Eagles On May 26
Published: May 24, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Gent loanee William Troost-Ekong is expected to arrive in France on Thursday, May 26th, ahead of the national team’s friendly with Mali in Rouen.
The Haugesund skipper is expected to be deployed in central defense on Wednesday when his side face Bodø / Glimt in the Norwegian Cup and can only make the trip to Normandy after the game at the Aspmyra Stadion.
Bear it in mind that the friendly against Mali at Stade Robert Diochon on May 27 falls outside Fifa’s international match calendar, therefore, Haugesund are not obliged to release him to the Nigerian Federation.
The 22-year-old Ekong is available for selection against the Malians but it is at the discretion of the technical crew of the Super Eagles.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham starlet had caps for the youth teams of Holland, all of them coming in friendly matches, prior to making his debut for the Super Eagles.
