Published: May 31, 2016
The Super Eagles beat the Red Lions of Luxembourg 3-1 in an international friendly match played at the Stade Josy Barthel on Tuesday.
A young and vibrant side prevailed over one of Africa’s strongest teams, Mali, at the Stade Robert Diochon in Rouen, France on Friday, with England–based Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the only goal 13 minutes from time.
The young lads continued from where they stopped with goals from Brown Ideye, English-based duo Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo.
Super Eagles played with fluidity in the game and they had to wait until the 37th minute when Ideye easily scored.
Iheanacho doubled the Super Eagles lead seven minutes after the hour, when he finished off a flowing attack.
Thill Vincent reduced the deficit in the 88th minute for the hosts, before the Salisu Yusuf tutored side sealed the game at injury time.
Talented Manchester City youngster Iheanacho dribbled his way to the box before setting up the lurking Ighalo who delivered a goal poacher’s finish beyond the goalkeeper.
