Exclusive: Moses Simon Now Doubtful To Play In Rio; NFF Pressurizing Gent
Published: June 28, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Gent exciting winger Moses Simon is doubtful to represent the Nigeria U23s at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
It was earlier thought that the Belgian First Division A side had granted authorization to the Super Eagles star to feature at the Games but the latest information from East Flanders is that he will not be released to the Nigeria Football Federation.
Simon wants to play at the Olympics and has been issued a United States visa to join the training camp in Atlanta next month but he doesn’t have the club’s permission at the moment.
The Nigeria Football Federation are now pressurizing Gent to permit the player to wear the national team colours in Brazil.
Moses Simon, 20, is back in Gent and resumed training with the club on Monday.
Meanwhile, it remains status quo for Kingsley Madu (AS Trencin) and William Troost-Ekong ( FK Haugesund) , as both players have been permitted by their respective clubs to honour the invitation from coach Samson Siasia.
