Published: August 04, 2016
The Dream Team VI have landed in Manaus ahead of Friday morning’s 2016 Olympic Games cracker against Japan at the Amazônia Arena, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
The Delta Airline plane, which departed Atlanta at approximately 0800 hours local time, touched down in Brazil at 1419 hours .
This is hardly a good way to prepare for a prestigious competition but the Nigeria U23s found themselves in an awkward situation after traveling to the United States for a get-together without the approval of the Sports Minister.
The Nigeria Football Federation only came to ask for money to charter a plane on Monday and the Federal Government paid $174,000 to an NFF agent’s account, according to Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Sports.
Nigeria are in Group B of the Olympic Games alongside Japan, Sweden and Colombia.
