Wolfsburg Trainee Osimhen Confesses : I Envy Mikel A Lot....
Published: September 03, 2016
Wolfsburg trainee Victor Osimhen is targeting his first-ever appearance for the Super Eagles when they lock horns with Tanzania in an African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium on Saturday.
The former Golden Eaglets sensation has spoken of his admiration for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel and confessed that he used to watch his matches on television before they finally met face to face at the Nigeria get-together.
“I am so overwhelmed and happy to be playing at the highest level in the national team. I want to thank everyone, the Federation, coach who have seen something in me,” said Victor Osimhen.
“I just want to improve. There are so many league and senior players here but it has been my dream to play for the senior national team and I am very happy because I normally watch my captain on the television. ”
The 17-year-old added : “I envy him a lot because he is a great person so to be part of this team is a dream come true.
“ I just want to do well, continue to learn and bring in my quality to the team. By the special grace of God, I am beginning to do well. ”
Osimhen will follow in the footsteps of Mikel and Chinedu Obasi if he is handed his debut against Tanzania.
The former Lyn Oslo players have caps for Nigeria at U17, 20, 23 level plus Super Eagles.
