Arsenal Congratulate Alex Iwobi For Breaking Super Eagles Duck
Published: October 09, 2016
Premier League side Arsenal congratulated Alex Iwobi after the attacking midfielder netted his first-ever international goal for the Super Eagles.
Before committing his international future to Nigeria, where he was born, Iwobi managed only one goal in eleven appearances for England’s youth teams, and had fired blanks in his first six caps for the senior national team.
Against Zambia in Ndola , Iwobi finally broke his duck in front of goal, firing home a volley that caught the defense napping in the 33rd minute.
““ð³ð¬ Yes @alexiwobi! #BIG17 has scored his first international goal - and Nigeria lead Zambia 2-0 at half-time in their World Cup qualifier, ” Arsenal said via their official Twitter account.
Alex Iwobi started and lasted the distance against Zambia, his third competitive game for the Super Eagles.
