Watford Reject Chance To Sign Ex-Barcelona Youth Team Skipper & Nigeria U23 Defender
Published: October 16, 2016
Premier League club Watford have passed up the opportunity to sign free agent Godswill Ekpolo.
According to WD Sports, the Hornets hierarchy rejected the chance to acquire the right wing-back in order not to stall the progress of David Sesay and Andrew Eleftheriou.
It is thought that the Barcelona product impressed against Hull City U23s despite Watford conceding four goals.
Born in Benin City, Ekpolo has been on the lookout for a new employer following his release by Barca in the summer, and tried his luck at Wolverhampton Wanderers after he was recommended by Seyi Olofinjana but nothing came out of it.
The 21-year-old first played for the Nigerian U23 national team in a friendly against Brazil in March.
