Nwakaeme Exposes SCO Angers Algerian Teammate: He Is Strong But Lacking Game Time
Published: November 04, 2016
Central defender Mehdi Tahrat, 26, was given a shock call-up to the Algerian national team by manager Georges Leekens for their World Cup qualifying match with Nigeria on November 12.
Tahrat’s teammate at SCO Angers, Nigerian striker Dickson Nwakaeme, thinks the stopper will be lacking match fitness for the simple reason that he has only four minutes of game time in Ligue 1 since his switch from Paris FC in August.
“Tahrat is strong and good with the ball. He has not played games this season. That will be his weakness, ” Nwakaeme told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We have not really talked about the game between Nigeria and Algeria, we only joke and laugh about it.
“Of course, Nigeria will win the game. We have a good team and home advantage.”
Born in Meudon, Mehdi Tahrat was eligible to turn out for France before he was called up to the Algerian squad for the first time in September 2015.
