Iheanacho Welcomes Return Of Man City Teammate Yaya Toure
Published: November 19, 2016
Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed joy at the return of ex-African Footballer of the Year Yaya Toure to the starting line-up of Manchester City in their hard fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
Before today’s meeting at Selhurst Park, Toure was frozen out of the team by City manager Pep Guardiola after his agent was embroiled in a war of the wards with the Spaniard over the omission of the midfielder from the Champions League roster.
The Ivorian had to apologize to Guardiola to bring an end to the dispute, following the controversial statements made by his agent, Dimitri Seluk.
On 39 minutes, he opened scoring after his effort was deflected past the goalkeeper, then netted the winner in the 82nd minute with a close range effort after the home team restored parity.
“He’s back yaya yaya #yayatoure great team spirit we fight to the end #mcfcð ,” Iheanacho said in a social media post.
The Nigeria international was among the four Manchester City substitutes that did not come off the bench, while Yaya Toure played the full game.
