Published: November 20, 2016
Flying Eagles midfielder, Orji Okonkwo finally made his Serie A debut for Bologna, playing less than two minutes in their 3-1 win against Palermo at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.
The Nigerian first appearance in the Italian league became a reality after replacing Rizzo Luca.
Orji, who joined the red and blue side from Football College Abuja, came off the bench in the 89th minute as they secured a valuable home win against Roberto de Zerbi men.
And he looked sharp during his brief outing in a game that saw his team return to winning ways after seven matches without a win.
Bologna bounced back from their humiliating defeat to Roma, with Mattia Destro requiring 20 minutes to cancel Palermo early goal lead and Belermin Dzermaili getting the second strike with Federico Viviani rounding up the goals in the 72nd minute of the game.
Orji’s Nigerian teammate Sadiq Umar who is on loan from Roma was an unused sub in the game.
