Exclusive: Super Falcons Paid $1,000 By NFF, Officials Get $800 Ahead Of Cameroon Clash
Published: December 02, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the cash-strapped Nigeria Football Federation have motivated the Super Falcons ahead of Saturday’s 2016 African Women Cup of Nations final against Cameroon by paying the players and officials a portion of their outstanding entitlements.
Prior to the competition, it was agreed that each player will be paid $4,000 for a win, $2,000 for a draw and N1,000 per day allowances, but they did not receive any money from the Nigerian Federation until now.
The NFF credited the bank account of each player with N500,000 (approximately $1,000), while the officials were paid N400,000 ($800).
The Super Falcons had a feel of the match venue, Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, Yaoundé, on Thursday evening, a workout that started at 1730 hours and lasted for one hour, while their training session today was held at the Military Stadium and lasted for one and a half hours.
The good news is manager Florence Omagbemi is not sweating on the fitness of any player, meaning all the 21 players in the squad are available for selection.
Though nothing has been cast in stone yet, rumour has it that the Sports Minister, NFF supremo, Amaju Pinnick, and his lieutenants plan to arrive in Yaounde few hours before the final aboard a chartered flight to cheer the defending champs.
