Current Africa Most Promising Talent Etebo Misses CAF Awards
Published: January 05, 2017
The current CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year Oghenekaro Etebo will not attend the 2016 Glo-CAF Awards ceremony on Thursday, January 5, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed.
Few hours to the prestigious event in Abuja, the attacking midfielder is still in Portugal because of commitments with CD Feirense.
Anyway, it is one hundred percent confirmed that Etebo will not retain the award he won about a year ago in his homeland, with CAF naming Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City), Elia Meschak (DR Congo & TP Mazembe) and Naby Keita (Guinea & RB Leipzig) in their final three-man shortlist.
The former Warri Wolves star lived up to his reputation as one of Africa’s stars to watch out for in the future after starring at the 2016 Olympic Games, netting four goals in the Dream Team’s win versus Japan and scoring on his full debut for the Super Eagles.
The 21-year-old Etebo has been reportedly scouted by Premier League pair Arsenal and Leicester City in recent weeks.
