Golden Eaglets hat-trick hero at 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup joins Motherwell, subject to medical

Scottish Premiership club Motherwell are on the verge of announcing the signing of 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup starlet Ibrahim Said.

According to Tipsbladet, the versatile forward is swapping Danish Superliga outfit Viborg for Motherwell.

Alnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported six days ago that Said was in advanced negotiations with two European clubs over a potential transfer, with a final decision expected in the coming days.

Viborg have reached an agreement to terminate their contract with Said a year ahead of schedule, securing a compensation package worth one million kroner (approximately N240 million in Nigerian currency), along with performance-related bonuses and a percentage of any future transfer fee.

The 23-year-old earned himself a transfer to Viborg in 2020 after making a splash at the 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup, where he netted a hat-trick to inspire five-time world champions, the Golden Eaglets, to a 3-2 win over Ecuador.

Said was also absent from training in Viborg on Thursday as he travelled to Scotland for a medical ahead of completing his transfer.

The technically gifted winger moved to Denmark at the age of 18, with Viborg marking his first European club following his development at Dabo Babes Academy.

Said made 112 appearances for Viborg across all competitions, registering 11 goals and 11 assists during his time with the Danish club.

Motherwell are managed by Danish tactician Jens Berthel Askou, a former centre-back who previously played for Norwich City.
