Genk set N45b asking price for Super Eagles forward amid AC Milan, Fulham and Burnley links
Published: July 11, 2025
Genk has reportedly placed a staggering €25 million (N45 billion in Nigerian currency) price tag on their star striker Tolu Arokodare, signaling their intent to capitalize on growing interest from top European clubs.
The Super Eagles forward has emerged as a prime target for AC Milan, while Premier League sides Fulham and Burnley have also inquired about his availability, according to Het Laatste Nieuws, via voetbalnieuws.
This hefty valuation could see Genk surpass their previous transfer record of €25 million, set when Sheffield United signed Sander Berge in 2020.
Genk’s summer transfer window has been relatively quiet, with only two signings—Daan Heymans and Tobias Lawal—bolstering the squad.
The club has prioritized retaining their core players, with manager Thorsten Fink emphasizing squad stability at the Cegeka Arena. However, exceptions were made for Arokodare and Zakaria El Ouahdi, who were granted permission to leave if lucrative offers materialized.
While El Ouahdi remains with the club, Arokodare’s potential departure is gaining significant traction.
AC Milan, still in search of a reliable striker to lead their attack, has reportedly initiated talks with Genk.
The Rossoneri view Arokodare as a dynamic option to bolster their frontline, but they face stiff competition from England. Fulham and Burnley’s interest has strengthened Genk’s negotiating position, allowing the Limburg-based club to demand a premium for their talisman.
“It’s quite possible that the club record will be broken,” a source close to the negotiations told HLN, underlining Genk’s ambition to maximize the transfer fee.
Arokodare’s rise to prominence has been meteoric. The 24-year-old’s physicality, goal-scoring prowess, and versatility have made him a standout in the Belgian Pro League, attracting scouts from across Europe.
His potential move to a club of AC Milan’s stature would mark a significant step in his career, while a transfer to the Premier League could see him compete in one of the world's most prestigious leagues.
