Super Eagles Midfielder Given Extra One-Game Ban By FA For Pushing Referee
Published: February 24, 2017
Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers have confirmed via their official webpage that Hope Akpan has been given an extra one-game ban following his dismissal against Sheffield Wednesday on February 14th.
The defensive midfielder was first handed a three-game ban for pushing the referee after he was sent off, and an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing has now found him guilty of violent conduct.
Thus, Akpan will now be unavailable for selection for three more games after missing the loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup last weekend.
He will miss games against Burton Albion (Feb. 24), Derby County (Feb. 28th) and Wigan Athletic (March 4th).
Blackburn Rovers were fined £5,000 by the Football Association.
