Clause In Contract Prevents Mikel From Showing Off To Barcelona, Man Utd Scouts
Published: March 21, 2017
Former Nigeria U23 invitee Mikel Agu was not in action on Sunday as Porto faced off against Vitória Setúbal on game week 26 in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Like most loan moves these days, Porto had inserted a clause that Mikel cannot face his parent club over the course of this season before sending him out on loan to Vitória Setúbal.
And this prevented the defensive midfielder from displaying his wares to several scouts from European teams that were in attendance at the Estádio Do Dragão on Sunday night.
Portuguese sports daily Record reports that representatives of Barcelona, Manchester United, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Marseille, Montpellier, Lens, Clermont Foot, Osmanlispor, Legia Warsaw, Hajduk Split and Chievo Verona were at the venue of the match.
Other teams that sent their scouts to run the rule over Porto and Vitória Setúbal players include Arouca, Belenenses, Chaves, Moreirense, P. Ferreira, Tondela and Famalicão.
