Wolves GK Carl Ikeme Unlikely To Recover Before Burkina Faso Friendly
Published: March 24, 2017
Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is unlikely to recover before the Super Eagles next international friendly with Burkina Faso at the Hive Stadium.
The Nigeria Football Federation are optimistic that the Super Eagles first-choice goalie has not suffered a serious injury as they await the result of the scan conducted.
“Carl (Ikeme) has been having hamstring and Achilles tendon issues but we did a scan on Wednesday night and we await the result. It is however good that the other goalkeepers are here,” Super Eagles team doctor Ibrahim Gyaran told thenff.com.
In the absence of Ikeme, Chippa United goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was selected ahead of Ikechukwu Ezenwa in Thursday’s meeting against Senegal.
The Super Eagles will lock horns with Burkina Faso on Monday in London.
