''Always appearing so angry and aggressive' - Caressa criticises Lookman's attitude
Published: November 07, 2025
Italian journalist Fabio Caressa has criticized Ademola Lookman for his reaction after being substituted during Atalanta’s 1-0 victory over Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward’s furious outburst toward his coach, Ivan Juric, has sparked widespread debate over player discipline and professionalism.
The incident occurred in the 75th minute when Juric decided to replace Lookman with Yunus Musah as Atalanta sought to preserve their narrow lead.
The decision infuriated the forward, who appeared visibly frustrated as he left the pitch. He exchanged heated words with Juric before the situation momentarily escalated.
Juric, visibly irritated, attempted to call Lookman to order and even grabbed the player’s arm before teammates and technical staff intervened to defuse the confrontation.
The Atalanta coach later played down the incident, describing it as something that happens in football.
However, Caressa, one of Sky Sport’s most prominent commentators, was not convinced.
He openly questioned Lookman’s attitude, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professionalism both on and off the pitch.
"Always appearing so angry and aggressive isn’t good for anyone, not even him,” Caressa was quoted as saying by chiamarsibomber.
The veteran journalist went further, expressing disappointment over what he described as a recurring behavioral issue.
"I want to say a word about Lookman: after the summer we had, after you returned, always appearing so angry and aggressive doesn’t do anyone any good, not even him."
Caressa stressed the need for composure and respect toward the club, suggesting that Lookman’s reaction could harm his relationship with both teammates and management.
"In my opinion, it’s not the right attitude towards the club that pays you; he continues to have an unprofessional attitude."
Ademola Lookman has experienced a slow start to the current campaign, managing just one goal in nine appearances across all competitions.
Atalanta are set to take on Sassuolo before the international break, after which Lookman is expected to join the Super Eagles camp ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs against Gabon in Morocco.
