Man Utd 0 Southampton 2 : Three Nigerian Wonderkids Start As Red Devils Suffer First Defeat
Published: July 26, 2017
Manchester United lost their one hundred percent record after they were defeated 2-0 by Southampton U15s in the junior section of the SuperCupNI on Wednesday evening.
Nigerian duo Ademipo Odubeko and Shola Shoretire were named in the Red Devils starting XI as expected, while Roland Idowu started for Southampton.
An unfortunate own goal by United's Ben Pleavin gave Southampton the lead, and the Saints were 2-0 up at the break thanks to an additional tally from Frank Lovett.
Manchester United would have competed for the main SuperCupNI Junior title if they had beaten Southampton today.
Their number nine Odubeko bagged a brace on Tuesday in the 4-2 win over Co Fermanagh.
