Alex Iwobi could make his tenth appearance for Arsenal in European competitions when Bundesliga club Cologne visit the Emirates on Thursday night.
Seven first-teamers Petr Cech, Laurent Koscielny, Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey were not sighted at London Colney this morning, fueling speculation that they won't be involved against the German opponents.
Arsene Wenger hinted at the pre-match press conference the he'll will rest some key players ahead of Sunday's big clash against Chelsea in the Premier League.
The French coach said : ''We have a no problems. We have a few players who are rested completely.''
''The injury situation isn’t too bad. Coquelin is out for three weeks.''
Iwobi's nine appearances so far in European competitions came in the UEFA Champions League, and the attacking midfielder will debut for the Gunners in the Europa League if he is given a run-out tomorrow night.
The Hale End Academy product's first game in Europe was against Bayern Munich on November 4, 2015.
The 21-year-old, who trained on Wednesday morning, has been included in Arsenal's Europa League squad along with Chuba Akpom, Tolaji Bola and Aaron Eyoma.
