Manchester United Most Expensive Player Doubtful To Face Liverpool, CSKA
Published: September 14, 2017
France international Paul Pogba faces at least one month on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Manuel Akanji's FC Basel on Tuesday night.
And the midfielder's recovery could extend to six weeks, meaning he may be absent for both United and the French national team.
Pogba had to be substituted in the 19th minute of the contest against the Swiss champions, and additional tests carried out on the player on Wednesday confirmed the cause of the injury.
It is all but confirmed the 24-year-old will not be available for selection when the Red Devils travel to the Russian capital where they face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on September 27.
In the Premier League, it is expected that Pogba won't be able to feature against Everton (September 17), Southampton (September 23), Crystal Palace (September 30), and will be doubtful for the trip to Liverpool (October 14).
Paul Pogba, who is of Guinean descent, returned to Manchester United in 2016 for a club record fee of 105 million euros, having played for Juventus.
