Wales youth international of Ghanaian descent Ethan Ampadu has signed a new contract with Premier League champions Chelsea.
Chelsea youth team expert Chelsea Youth has informed that the central defender or defensive midfielder has penned his first professional contract with Chelsea, four days after he celebrated his seventeenth birthday.
Born in Exeter, the teenager is eligible to represent Wales, England, Ireland and Ghana at senior level, and has caps for the Young Lions and Young Dragons.
His father, Kwame Ampadu, represented Arsenal before hanging up his boots and now coaches the Gunners U18 squad.
Ampadu joined Chelsea from Exeter City in the summer of 2017 and has been registered for this season's Premier League and UEFA Youth League.
The highly-rated young star was nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for August, an award which was eventually won by Arsenal's Reiss Nelson.
He trained with the senior national team of Wales ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Moldova in September.
