Leicester 2 Liverpool 3: Ndidi Blamed For Second Goal, Iheanacho Extends Goal Drought
Published: September 23, 2017
Liverpool were the winners by the odd goal in five against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on match day six in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
A beautifully drilled effort from Emre Can hit the post in the 13th minute, and Salah had a great chance to score from the rebound but somehow managed to miss the target.
But the Egyptian made amends for the missed scoring opportunity when he opened the scoring with a magnificent angled header two minutes later.
In the 22nd minute, Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi received a yellow card for charging Alberto Moreno from behind, and Philippe Coutinho doubled the visitors advantage from the resultant free kick.
With seconds to go in the first half, there was confusion in Liverpool's penalty area and Okazaki poked into an empty net.
On 68 minutes, Henderson restored the Reds two-goal cushion following a counter-attack, with the impressive Daniel Sturridge providing the assist.
Leicester City were back in the contest almost immediately thanks to Jamie Vardy's close range effort after Liverpool allowed themselves to become stretched in the 69th minute.
Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench with 16 minutes remaining but was starved of service, while Liverpool's Dominic Solanke was an unused substitute.
