Manchester United, Manchester City Watch West Ham Target Against Moreirense
Published: September 25, 2017
Portugal international William Carvalho remains on the radar of English Premier League clubs despite seeing a transfer to West Ham fall through in the summer transfer window.
According to Portuguese sports daily A Bola, Manchester United sent spies to watch the Primeira Liga clash between Moreirense and Sporting CP at Parque Desportivo Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the progress of Carvalho for more than a year, having scouted him during Sporting’s 3-1 loss to Rio Ave on September 18, 2016.
Representatives from West Ham, Barcelona, Capri, Manchester City, Eibar, Celta, Gijón, Mónaco and Rennes were among the 3,976 spectators at the Stadium.
William Carvalho has been on the books of Sporting for twelve years, a club he joined in 2005 after spending his formative years as a footballer with the youth teams of Algueirão and Mira Sintra.
The 25-year-old helped the Portuguese national team win the 2016 European Championship in France.
