Ex-Nigeria U17 Trainee Battles AFOTY Nominees Mane, Salah For Liverpool Goal Of The Month
Published: December 06, 2017
Former Golden Eaglets trainee Ovie Ejaria has been nominated for Liverpool's Goal of the Month for November 2017 and must see off competition from some illustrious African footballers to win the accolade.
Goals from Egypt dazzler Mohamed Salah and Senegal star Sadio Mané are also up for the award along with strikes from Oxlade-Chamberlain, Brewster, Dhanda and Firmino.
Ejaria wrote his name on the score-sheet as Liverpool beat Newcastle United 2-1 in a Premier League International Cup clash at Prenton Park on November 10.
With seventeen minutes left on the clock, the Nigerian midfielder put Liverpool 2-1 up with a wonderful effort, collecting Liam Millar's backheel, beating a man and then rounding the goalkeeper to score.
Though the ex-Arsenal schoolboy has yet to play competitively for The Reds first-team in the current campaign, he has been very influential for the U23s, starting their last seven games in the Premier League 2.
Ejaria, who has represented England's U20 team, scored against Manchester United in October and has provided two assists in the Reserve League.
