Felix Nmecha On Target For Man City U23 In Win Vs Liverpool, Brother Backs Him
Published: January 13, 2018Talented Nigerian striker Felix Nmecha netted his first-ever goal in the
Premier League 2 as Manchester City came back from a goal down to beat
pacesetters Liverpool 3-2 at the Academy Stadium on Friday night.
Midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru logged ninety minutes for City and he was joined on the pitch by Nmecha on 29 minutes as Garre was forced off due to injury, while Bobby Adekanye put in an impressive full shift for the Reds.
Harry Wilson scored from the spot to open the scoring for Liverpool in the 14th minute only for Gonzalez to pull City level after he was fed by Dele-Bashiru.
Matondo scored for the hosts to make it 2-1, then Nmecha made sure the points were safe with a close range finish on 75 minutes.
Meanwhile, Felix Nmecha's elder brother Lukas has backed him to make his debut for the first team in the not too distant future.
Felix told Manchester City's official website: ''This should motivate him to try and get to where I have.
''It’s always good to have a little brother who looks up to you and hopefully this will help him push on too.''
The Nmechas are eligible to turn out for the national teams of Nigeria, Germany and England at senior level.
