Wenger Reveals The Area Arsenal Are The Best Team In England, Makes Reference To Iwobi
Published: January 23, 2018
Arsene Wenger is happy to give chances to young players that passed through the club's academy, and made reference to Nigeria international Alex Iwobi.
Academy products Jack Wilshere, Alex Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Bellerín, Chuba Akpom and Reiss Nelson have all figured for the Gunners first team this season, and the French coach has stated that they are the top team in England that produces first-team players.
''Don’t forget Iwobi, Bellerin. We are the only team that plays with four or five players in the starting line up with players who come out of the club,'' Wenger told arsenal.com.
Wenger revealed that he has faith in his youth products unlike other managers that spend big money to sign already-made stars.
''I mean, if you look at the instability now in the Premier League, it doesn’t encourage managers to take gambles with young players and when they make their team on Friday night they will go more for security and security is experience, than to give a chance to young players,'' added the experienced French coach.
Iwobi, who has been on the books of Arsenal for fourteen years, has played 80 matches for the first team since his debut, scoring eight goals.
