Morocco 4 Nigeria 0 : Eagles Completely Outplayed In One-Sided CHAN Final
Published: February 04, 2018
The Atlas Lions proved too hot for the Super Eagles to handle in Casablanca with a convincing 4-0 victory in the final game of the 2018 African Nations Championship on Sunday evening.
Hadraf Zakaria's double and further strikes from Walid El Kharti and Ayoub El Kaabi lit up the Stade Mohamed V with the ten-man Super Eagles clearly devoid of ideas and mustering little in terms of fight back as the tournament hosts hoisted their maiden CHAN title since inception.
The rout was kick started just before half-time, after Abdeljalil Jbira had made a nuisance of himself down the left flank to thread through an inch-perfect pass for Zakaria to attack and prod home underneath Dele Ajiboye in the Nigerian goal.
Eneji Moses's sending off three minutes into the second period for a second bookable offence would hardly help matters as the rampant North Africans clearly had their way from there on.
Ismael El Haddadi continuously tormented the stretched Nigerian defence with Walid El Karti arriving just in time to nod in the second goal in the 61st minute from a rebound, following a splurge of goal mouth action which saw Morocco hit the bar and Ajiboye palm into the goalscorer's path.
Zakaria picked a good spot for his second of the night to make it three moments later as the dire Eagles wilted in
astonishing fashion.
Ayoub added further gloss to the scoreline with a fourth goal for Morocco, pouncing on a loose ball from a Mohammed Nahiri's scuffed effort to score his ninth goal of the tournament.
