Published: February 05, 2018
Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike will not make his debut for his new club Las Palmas when they take on Malaga in a La Liga clash at Estadio de Gran Canaria, starting from 2100 hours.
The Olympiakos loanee was monitored at close quarters this past weekend at at El Hornillo Sports Complex, and at the end of the training sessions he was left out of the 18-man squad by manager Paco Jémez.
Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is in line to make his debut for the Canary Islands-based team as he has been named to the 18-man squad.
There is plenty of Nigerian interest in tonight's clash, with Nigeria attackers Isaac Success and Brown Ideye completing moves to Malaga before the close of the January transfer window.
The two players, on loan from Watford and Tianjin Teda respectively, are among the 19 players summoned for the match by coach José González.
At least nine teams were interested in signing Success in January but he accepted the offer from Malaga after a meeting with the sporting director, who promised him game time.
Etebo, Emenike, Ideye and Success will play with the number 6, 10, 12 and 17 kits at their respective clubs.
